Breckenridge Photography Ski Log

Breckenridge (2012-04-07)

It’s spring skiing in the Rockies and that means no traffic, no crowds and wonderful weather.

We arrived at Breck around 9:30 and the airport lot had no more than two dozen cars.

Once we hit Peak 7 we noticed something I haven’t seen in months: no lift line. We were able to get in a dozen runs pretty easily. Despite the spring conditions (hard in the morning, soft in the afternoon) we had a decent day of skiing. We even decided to take a few runs down the small terrain park and see if we could get an EpicMix photo. I think mine turned out pretty nicely.

Finally, we stopped by the throwback half pipe at the bottom of Peak 8. It was a small competition with a decent turn-out. The event was sponsored by Rockstar which meant free energy drink, trucker hats and what I can only assume to be a PR nightmare (“Mommy, that girl isn’t wearing a shirt…” says the child about the girl wearing Rockstar stickers as pasties).

You really can’t beat spring-time in Colorado.
