Breckenridge (2013-03-02)

We started Saturday morning around 9 AM at the Breckenridge Transportation Center. As the bus pulled up we saw the gondola line (to Peak 7 and 8): it stretched all the way to the bus’s doors and the number of people in the way and milling about made us anxious.

So, we opted to jump on the Red bus and start the day at Beaver Run (Peak 9). This was a great choice because there was nearly no line. Plus, it allowed us to get over to Peak 10.

Our gondola companion on the ride back down in the afternoon may have said it best when he commented, “we just had the best weekend day of the year.” While we all agreed that perhaps the snow could have been deeper (thats always the case, I suppose), overall I am inclined to agree with him.

Saturday at Breck was a fantastic blue-bird day with minimal wind and fresh powder from the night before. While there were some Saturday crowds, as expected, the mountain felt like it was all ours as we stayed on the higher lifts.

These were some great conditions to kick off the month and hopefully we have more great days to come in March.
