Arapahoe Basin (2013-03-10)

Sunday at Arapahoe Basin was pretty great. Loveland Pass was closed in the morning so we detoured around through Keystone. When we arrived at 9 AM the lower lot was already full: pent up demand for 5 inches of fresh snow I suppose.

We headed up BME while it was still a little cloudy (almost a fog, not quite snowing) and got some fresh powder run under Lenawee. The sun started coming out so we headed back towards Montezuma Bowl which was a great choice.

Montezuma looked great, everything was soft, and I found plenty of untouched snow in Tieze’s Claim. There are some rocks hiding under the soft powder but that’s Monday’s problem.

After some bacon bloody mary’s at Black Mountain Lodge we did some laps down the cornice run and called it a day. Overall, we had great weather, great snow, no real crowds and … bacon!
