Nearly a foot of new snow in Denver but half that in the mountains. Hoping it keeps coming down…

No new snow but looking like a nice weekend. Who is heading up this morning?

The Courtesy Patrol program begins on Friday, November 25. Drivers of passenger and other smaller vehicles are provided free roadside assistance for services such as flat tires, fuel or water transfer, jump starts, short-distance towing, accident scene protection and minor mechanical assistance. Three pickups and a tow truck patrol I-70 between the top of Floyd Hill and Vail, looking for disabled vehicles. Truck personnel also respond to requests from the Colorado State Patrol, local police or the Eisenhower Tunnel. Courtesy Patrol operates primarily on weekends (Saturdays 6 a.m. to 8 p.m./Sundays 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.), including the holiday weekends of Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and President’s Day. Following the holidays, patrols will run every weekend through April 1, 2012.

In a bit of a detour, Denver off the Wagon reports that New Belgium in Ft. Collins has released the “Snow Day” ale:

Snow Day carries the subtle chocolate and caramel flavors of the newly developed Midnight Wheat malt. Pleasantly hoppy, the Styrian Golding, Centennial and Cascade hops bring a bright note to complement roasty undertones. Snow Day is the deep garnet of roasted walnut and presents a creamy tan head.

Sounds delicious. I hope the resorts carry this, it would only be appropriate.

On behalf of the Downtown Denver Partnership and thousands of Denver ice skaters, we’re thrilled for Southwest Airlines to sponsor the Southwest Rink at Skyline Park for the second year. Last year, during our 65 days of skating, 31,726 skaters took to the ice. From family outings to broomball games to “Date and Skate” nights, people of all ages were drawn to Downtown Denver, a key goal of the Downtown Denver Partnership.

The ice rink is open to the public from November 25th through February 14th and free if you bring your own skates (otherwise a skate rental is $2).

It’s not a bad deal if you’re looking to do some outdoor activities when you’re not up in the hills.

On October 21st, all those who dare to relive the greatest decade of ski wear will unite to celebrate skiing primarily, the 80′s course and especially the life of our friend Adam Barron. Mark your calendars and get ready for the only event that truly prepares you for the upcoming 2011-2012 ski season. With the purchase of a ticket, patrons will receive BEER until it runs out and drink specials from the bar.

Buy tickets for $45 online or $50 at the door. All proceeds go to the Endeavor for Physical and Intellectual Challenges Foundation.
