  1. Average airfare costs to Colorado in the winter

Kayak Colorado travel costs by month

I just received some interesting data from Kayak.com and wanted to share it with you.

This chart shows average fares from between December 11 and March 12 last year. Interestingly enough their data shows flying to Colorado is 2.4 times more popular than Utah. Plus, the average fare to Colorado is usually cheaper than flying to Park City or Salt Lake City ($490.21 vs $518.38). Yeah, they may be getting more snow lately, but I’m sure we’ll have plenty of our own.

The data also shows the cheapest time to travel to any of these destinations (Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, etc.) is January; all airfares plunged at the beginning of the month last year.

Past behavior may not indicate future results but I think this suggests: visit Colorado because airfare is cheaper, and book your trips in January.
