Joel is a good meteorologist. The last forecast I followed called for the bulk of the snow to fall at 2:00 PM and, well, it was spot on. So, I’m hoping the track record continues this weekend and we see 12 inches fall along the I-70 corridor. Fingers crossed.
All the recent snow means Vail has opened up some of Sun Up Bowl and China Bowl today. Portions of Blue Sky Basin open tomorrow. It’s going to be a good weekend!

As expected, it’s not quite up to “5-8 inches” as expected… yet. There is certainly more to the storm but the forecasts now expect “snow mist” and “snow dusting” from here on out. Waking up to an inch or two doesn’t spell “snowpocalypse” as much as the weather forecasters would have liked you to believe…
A note on forecasts: the early forecasts in the Denver area can usually be halved. Besides, all the snow should stay in the mountains!
