This past weekend sucked if you wanted to ski in the high country. If you wanted to sit out on the deck and kick back a few beers... it was perfect. Highs in the low 60s means only the following: no new snow, crappy conditions, bare spots, and slush.
I was thinking to myself: damn, ski season is already over. Then something magical happened... it snowed. And it's snowing a lot!
In the last 24 hours Vail has received over a foot of new snow. You read that right, 14+ inches. This gives me great hope that April will be a great ...

Discussion on the new Keystone gondola today prompted an interesting bit of trivia: it costs resorts anywhere from $100,000 to $300,000 to make snow for the super pipes (half-pipes) in Colorado.

Copper has decided that with all the snow falling (last night saw at least 8 inches!) they're going to open a full week earlier. Copper will now open up on November 7th, only two Fridays away. Free skiing is back at Crested Butte! From Dec. 1 - 17, 2008, you can get 1 free lift ticket for each person per night lodging booked through Crested Butte Vacations.
