Our first ski day of 2013 was on New Year’s Day at Beaver Creek which means we earned the “Resolved” EpicMix pin — whoop!
There hadn’t been any new snow in a few days and it was a holiday weekend so most everything was skied off or still bare underneath. Most mogul runs had grass or rocks in the troughs and groomers in the shade were pretty icy after lunch.
The weather didn’t help make things better: while it was a nice blue-bird day we saw single-digit temperatures on the mountain. An extended lunch warm-up session was in need.
Overall, not a bad way to start the year (skiing!) but not a great day on the mountain. Here’s hoping for more snow soon!
