Today Copper Mountain’s Olympic-sized halfpipe is now the first of its size to open in North America.

It is the same height – 22 ft. – as the superpipe that will be featured during the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia in February 2014. Main Vein is 500 ft. long and 62 ft. wide, allowing for the maximum speed athletes need to boost an average of 15 ft. in the air while spinning off-axis.

This certainly puts Copper on the map as its the only pipe open on this side of the world that athletes can begin training on.

Visitors can watch private training sessions and possibly catch a glimpse of some of the best in the world. Athletes will be training from December 1st through 11th and December 23 through January 30, 2014 between 8:30 AM and 12:30 PM.
