New this season, the world-famous Ice Castles are coming to Breckenridge.
Ice Castles are created by ice architect Brent Christensen and he’s picked Breckenridge as the location of one of his three masterpieces this season. Visitors will enjoy the huge scene built entirely by hand using only icicles and water. The result is millions of icicles that sparkle a glacial blue by day and glow multi-colored at night with the help of LED lights embedded in the ice.
“Ice Castles really are one of the most unique and beautiful places on earth,” said Christensen. “And every visitor gets a distinctive experience since the ice is constantly melting, freezing and being reshaped. It’s an amazing continuously evolving experience.”
Construction is well underway and they expect to open around December 26, 2013, depending on the weather. The Ice Castle will be open Monday through Friday from 2 PM – 10 PM; Saturday from 12 PM – 10 PM; and Sunday from 12 PM – 8 PM. Tickets are $9.95 for ages 3 and up.
