This Saturday at Beaver Creek started out great: the Bear Lot was only half-full by 10 AM and it was already quite Warm (upwards of 35, maybe 40 degrees).
Everything except the runs at the Village are closed by now. Bachelor Gulch, Strawberry Park, Red Tail… all closed. It was fairly sad and gloomy to not see the lifts running despite the remaining snow (arguably much more than this time last season).
That aside, we had the place to ourselves and made a few good runs. Rachel has started experimenting with skiing (she’s always been a boarder) so some tips were dealt.
For what its worth, the groomers were soft, the spring snow at the bottom was slushy (as expected) and the Rose Bowl still had some fun turns and bumps. If you looked for snow you could certainly find it.
Nothing to write home about but a wonderful Saturday and a good way to start winding down the season…
