Breckenridge New This Season Photography

Breckenridge (2013-12-16)

We started our drive up from Denver around 10:00 AM. Since it was a weekday we had no troubles getting up to Summit County in about 90 minutes or so. We stopped by Backcountry Brewery’s Brewpub in Frisco for a long lunch and by the time we got into Breckenridge it was nearly 2 PM.

Since Breck’s paid parking lots are free after 2 PM we slid into the North Gondola lot, into a spot in the front row, hopped on to the gondola and were on Peak 7 by 2:15 PM.

Nearly nobody was on the hill at 2. We skied right through the queue and onto the chair nearly every lap. Now that Rachel is getting her ski legs under her and confidence built, we took four long blue runs on Peak 7 and called it a day by 3:30 PM.

The long shadows covered the trails in the afternoon and the wind whipped us in the chairs a bit, but overall the clear blue sky was a joy to ski under. There hasn’t been much for new snow in over a week now so we’re hoping we do get some flakes here around Thursday.

We took a moment to check out the Zendo Chair connecting Peak 7 and Peak 6 where nearly all runs on the right side of Peak 7 converge. The operator house is in place, the chairs are hanging and the operations folks are still constructing the wood platforms. Hopefully, if the snow shows again soon, we can see Peak 6 up and running before the end of the year.
