This past weekend kept a lot of folks at home. I know a few groups that stayed away from the slops because they weren’t crazy enough to ski in sub-zero temperatures. Of course, there were plenty that played in the high country like the rippin skiers. Seven below is a little chilly even for me…

My name is Devin Reams and I founded this site to provide a useful news and review resource for Colorado skiers and snowboarders (and mountain enthusiasts).
I've been skiing since I was a little kid (we moved out here when I was five years old) and I plan to ski for years beyond that. Although cosnow is not my full-time job it is my full-time winter hobby. I've been an "Epic Local" passholder since 2006 (when it was called a "Colorado Pass" or "Five Mountain Pass"). My favorite resorts are Beaver Creek and Breckenridge.
My best day skiing was last Sunday at Vail when they got over 8 inches of fresh new snow. Sure, Vail got snow but I got a bowl! The Blue Sky Basin also opened and I can’t count the number of times I got (delightfully) stuck in the deep white stuff. The best part of […]
With at least 10″ in the last 24 hours at Vail, resort officials are planning to open Blue Sky Basin and portions China, Sun Up and Sun Down Bowls on Saturday, December 8th. Also, the new Highline Express Lift (Chair 10) will open for it’s first time. Visit Vail.com for more information.
Breckenridge opens Peak 8, Gondola
It’s snowing up in the high country and Breckenridge announced that Peak 8 is now open. Additionally, the Gondola will begin service today (Friday) with Gondola parking at $5 (unpaved, south) and $10 (paved, north). If you’re looking for the free parking lots you’ll notice they’re to the left (west) of the now pay-to-park lots. […]
Sunday I visited Breckenridge and was greeted with over 11″ of powder. Inferno, a black diamond off of Peak 9, is one of the more consistently entertaining runs I’ve found. Although it was closed this past weekend you could head down a fraction of the run, perhaps the part that mattered most: the deep powder. […]
From Snowboard Magazine: After a major snowstorm blanketed the central Rockies with up to two feet of snow this past weekend, Vail Resorts has decided to give Colorado skiers and snowboarders an early holiday gift this season. During this coming weekend only, Dec. 7-9, the popular Colorado Pass, Colorado Pass Plus, Summit Pass and Four […]
Wednesday, December 5th is Local Appreciation Day, with lift tickets at $27 and no I.D. is required at Wolf Creek ski resort. If you hadn’t noticed they got a lot of snow this weekend so if you’re near the Pagosa Springs area it may be worth your while.
This season Alpinist Magazine is hosting a film festival in Wyoming (which is a short-enough drive from Colorado, right?): The 2008 Alpinist Film Festival will take place January 17-20, 2008, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. In addition to the Snow, Surf and Stone nights, which showcase, respectively, the world’s best skiing, surfing and climbing films, a […]
