Well, I said I wasn't going to do it this year but I did. Frankly, I'm annoyed with 1) resort websites that don't have their opening day listed front and center (not even CSCUSA) and 2) other websites claiming dates that are flat out incorrect. So, I have hand-verified each of the dates listed below on each resort's official website. If it's not listed, they didn't list it (email me if one is missing).
UPDATE: awesome! CSCUSA has posted the 2009 season dates to their resort pages. Note that the cosnow listing includes non-member resorts (Vail, Keystone, Breckenridge, Beaver Creek).

The economy is in the toilet, we get it. Jobs are scarce, understood. These days we are all having to make tough decisions about where to spend our already limited discretionary dollars.
That said, Colorado has nearly a half million skiers and riders living in the state, and having world class skiing and riding in our back yards is one of the reasons many of us live here. If you don't have a season pass this year (or you're holding the Colorado Pass) then Intrawest has a great deal: $99 for a day pass to Copper, Winter Park, and Steamboat. Let's make this clear: that's $33 per day. Frankly, this is worth the day at Steamboat alone. Check out the Pow Pow Platter. (via Winter Park on Twitter)

A new line of snowboards called 'Love' from Burton have nearly-nude models on them and Vail Resorts, Winter Park, and Echo Mountain (so far) have prohibited employees from riding on them. Sure it's common sense. Even though they aren't preventing guests (and off-the-clock employees) from using them, I wonder how long until someone makes a big deal about it. Based on hotel bookings, Orbitz has compiled a list they call the Orbitz Ski Index. It actually surprised me to see Breckenridge so high on the list, beating out Banff and Whistler. But, of course, all the usual suspects are there: Vail, Aspen, Winter Park, etc. Sadly enough Copper Mountain didn't make an appearance. Maybe next year...
