Skied at Winter Park on January 8, 2018

An early start to a weekday after a powder day meant quiet, empty groomers and plenty of room to fly down the hill.

On Monday we decided to get out early-ish and see what a weekday day after a powder day looked like. It was great! No lines and untouched groomers everywhere.

Untouched groomed terrain under the Zephyr lift at Winter Park early on January 8, 2018

I went out first right around 9:15 so I avoided any build up at the Zephyr lift. Turns out I was going to be able to sit by myself on every chair for the rest of the day. To mix things up a bit I decided to skip Mary Jane and explore the west side of Winter Park.

Every lift — Olympia, Prospector, High Lonesome — was all mine! And the corduroy felt great underfoot. I could consistently zip down runs averaging 15-20 MPH.

I headed back in around 10:45 in to let Rachel have her turns…

I was able to get in 6 quick runs in the morning covering nearly 5,500 vertical feet.
